Our Story
We (Guy and Iain) met on a training course when we were studying for our EQEs.
After qualifying, we started tutoring EQE candidates together and have continued doing so ever since.
Our EQE Papers A & B tutorials were always fully booked, with multiple extra sessions being scheduled to keep up with demand.
In 2021, we coordinated a series of free webinars for the EQE pre-examination, as well as EQE Papers A, B, C & D. Almost 500 EQE candidates from all over the world attend.
Motivated by the overwhelming feedback from the Free EQE webinar series, we launched EQE Training in 2022.

Guy Warner
Hi, I’m Guy!
When I grow up I want to be a stuntman but, in the meantime, I’m a Senior Patent Director with Unilever.
I joined the patent profession in 2008 after about 10 years as a biotech scientist. I passed my EQE (first time) in 2011 and started tutoring EQE candidates as soon as I qualified.
I’ll never forget how important my tutors were in helping me survive my years as a trainee and now I love being able to share my techniques and experiences with new trainees every year. After 11 years of tutoring, I’m super excited that we’ve been able to set up EQE Training so we can design and run our own bespoke training courses to make sure you pass EQE Papers A & B.
Iain Russell
Hi, I’m Iain!
I’m a UK and European patent attorney with a background in maths and physics.
I passed my EQE on my first attempt with an average mark of 74% across the four papers. I also had my answer to Paper B published in the EQE Compendium (here) as the highest-scoring Candidate Answer, with a mark of 89%. One of the Paper B Templates we provide on our EQE Papers A & B Training Programme is still based very closely on the very template I used back in 2009.
I put a large part of my Paper A & B success down to significant advance preparation, including developing personalised tools and techniques that helped me tackle and master these papers.
Guy and I have improved and developed our own techniques over the 11 years we’ve been tutoring together.
Even then, the templates we provide are still based on our original exam templates that served us so well when we took the EQE.
